Your imported templates

Every Klaviyo template arrives as one piece of HTML that you can send but not edit with blocks. One press converts them, and this chapter says what it does.

Every Klaviyo template arrives as one piece of HTML you can send but not edit with blocks. Once the import is over, Convert templates turns them all into editable templates, and it is best done before you send.

The Import tab has a step for exactly that: Turn your imported email templates into editable Carpe Messaging templates. It says how many are ready — Ready to convert: 427 templates and 46 automation emails — and has one button, Convert templates.

For best results, convert before you send. Unconverted, much of a template's look rides in style rules that some mail apps throw away — the Gmail app reading an address that is not a Gmail address is one — so it can look plainer there. A converted template carries its look in its own blocks, and you can edit it.

It is one press, once. When it has run, the button is gone and the step shows what happened instead. It starts with how many of your templates are now editable here, then says in a sentence what each group means for you — the ones editable top to bottom, the ones editable except for some sections we kept exactly as they were, the ones waiting for an answer from you, the ones skipped because you changed them after importing, and any that could not be converted, with the reason — each a list you open, every item linked. It ends with what to do next. An automation's email is named with its automation, and its link opens that automation at that step. Nothing a run went through is offered again. The button comes back for anything no run has gone through: templates a later import brings, whatever a run that stopped part-way never reached, and an automation email you build later from an imported template that was never converted. The result keeps listing what every run did. The step stays after you disconnect, as long as there is something to convert or a result to show.

The same step is described from the templates side on the Importing and converting a design help page, under Convert all your imported templates.
