Help · Getting started

Home

Home is the first screen you see, and it is built to answer one question: why did you open this today. Your store's name sits at the top beside the Carpe Messaging mark, and everything under it is a fact about your store rather than a welcome.

Under that, home is a board of panels — three across on a wide screen, two on a narrower one and one on mobile — each headed by a drawing of what it is about. They come in a fixed order, so the panel you learned the position of stays where you left it. A panel that has nothing to say is not there at all rather than sitting empty, which is why the board is shorter on some days than others.

This panel lists only things you can act on now, and only things the app can work out for itself. A line appears when your Shopify connection needs reconnecting, when your postal address is missing, when a template has something to fix before you can send it, when a form has changes you have not published, or when messages were refused in the last 7 days. Every line ends with a way to go and deal with it.

They come in the order you would act on them: a dead connection first, because nothing arrives from your store while it is down, then the law that refuses a send, then the things that block one piece of work each, then what already went wrong.

When there is nothing to act on, the panel is not there at all. It appears when something needs you — in the board's first place — and goes when it is done.

The five things you changed most recently across campaigns, templates and forms, newest first. Each is its name, with what kind of thing it is and when you last touched it on the line underneath.

Drafts only. Something already sent is not something to pick up.

Four panels, one for each thing you might have come here to start: write a message, build a segment, add a form, or see who opened. The whole panel is the link, drawing included.

Building a segment is the one Talaria helps with, and its panel carries a field you can start in. Describe the people you want in plain words, choose Draft it, and you arrive in the segment builder with Talaria already drafting the rule from your sentence. You keep the last word: every condition it writes is one you can edit or throw away. Leave the field empty and the same link simply opens the builder.

What you type stays in the tab you typed it in. It is not put in the address, so it never travels anywhere it could be written down along the way.

Every number here names a part, and none of them is a total. There is no gross profile count on this screen on purpose: it is the number that flatters, and it says nothing about who you can actually reach.

Confirmed and subscribed is the panel's big number, and it counts the profiles something in your store confirmed who have also said yes to marketing email. Read it as an upper limit on your reach rather than an exact one. A few of those can still be held back when a campaign runs — an address carrying a permanent do-not-email record, or a profile with no address at all, is refused at the moment of sending, and this number cannot see that.

The three smaller facts under it are counts too. Not confirmed yet counts profiles nothing has confirmed. They are left out of every audience and are never emailed, until something the app trusts — an order, or another signal from your store — confirms them.

Confirmed in the last 7 days is that same confirming, for this week only.

Campaigns completed counts campaigns that ran all the way to the end. One you canceled part-way through is not counted, even though it did send some email, and this is a count of campaigns rather than of emails.

Under the numbers, one sentence names your last campaign and the day it went out.

Sent is the panel's big number. Delivered, opened, clicked, bounced and marked spam are listed under it, with the open rate beside Opened and the click rate beside Clicked. Period switches between Last 7 days and Last 30 days, and your choice lives in the address, so the Back button and a bookmark both keep it.

Opened and clicked count people, not opens. Each is the number of delivered emails in the window that were opened, or clicked, at all — so one person opening the same email four times counts once. That is also what keeps a rate from climbing above 100%.

Read the open number as a ceiling even so.

A rate over nothing is unknown rather than zero, so a window with no deliveries says this instead of 0%.

And a store that has not sent anything yet is told so plainly.

A short checklist a new store sees, in a panel of its own. Every step is worked out from your store rather than remembered, so a step disappears the moment you do the thing, and the sentence above the list counts only what is left. A new store has four steps, so it opens on the count and the number comes down as you go.

When one step is left the sentence says so in words instead of a number.

Putting one aside is what to do when you have already handled it somewhere else.

That choice is kept in the browser you made it in, so a step you put aside can come back on another device. The panel goes away once every step is done or put aside.

The last panel opens the help center — these pages, in a panel over whatever screen you are on. Every help door in the app works that way: nothing opens a new window, and you never lose your place. The same pages are published on our site as well, where anyone can read them before they sign up.
